TRIGGER WARNING. THIS IS GOTHIC POETRY; DARK THEMED POETRY THAT IS GENERALLY CONSIDERED MACABRE, FRIGHTENING, AND/OR DEPRESSING. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE PRONE TO MENTAL ILLNESSES, ESPECIALLY ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION. YOUR LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN YOUR OPINION OF A REALLY OLD PIECE OF POETRY.

STILL HERE? ARE YOU SURE? OKAY….

GARGOULLIER: GARGOYLE

What is it that you see lonely sentry.
Denizen of stone overlooking castle wall.
Is it the echo of some far ancient battle.
Do your ears listen to a war drums ghostly call.
As dusk falls and the moon seeks the sky
Do you come awake from your daylight dreaming.
Does starlight glitter in your penetrating eye.
A creature of legend and nightmare seeming,
Upon the ramparts do you stalk the minutes of the night.
A forgotten king who’s sworn fealty keeps you bound
To a pile of ruins and memory of former might.
In hopeful anticipation do you attempt to greet the dawn,
Returned to solid granite ere the first ray of the light.
Glistening with mourning dew a fashion of the past.
Medieval man’s devil chaser lost betwixt shadow and reality.
